— Acephalous

Acephalous is an antagonist in Abandoned: Discovery Island. He is a Goofy costume with the head seperated from the body.

Appearance

Acephalous appears to be a normal-looking Goofy costume without his head. Acephalous wears a yellow jacket, unlike Goofy's black one from the cartoons. Curiously, even though his head is detached from his body, he is still able to speak.

His head, which can be seen on the floor of the Meat Freezer, is the same as his Disney counterpart as well, with the exception being that it has no long, droopy ears. It usually has its eyes closed, but it has been proven that it can occasionally open them.

Behavior

Acephalous' body becomes active starting on Night 3. He initially starts off-camera, but will then take the following path towards the player.

If Acephalous appears in the Office, the player needs to hide under the desk. The player also has the option to switch off the power.

Acephalous' head will remain in the Meat Freezer, and will appear in the Office if God summons it.

Power Outage

Curiously, Acephalous is the only suit in the main storyline that has no shade form. When the power is out, he will continue to roam the building, and the exact same method you would normally use against him must be done once he is spotted with the flashlight.

History

Much like the other suits, Acephalous was generally considered friendly and helpful by the Disney staff before the Corrupti Incident. He was also curious about the world around him, as he eventually escaped into the public eye alongside other suits, resulting in said event of mass hysteria.

Jake Smith sliced Acephalous' head off as the Corrupti Incident occurred. This resulted in Acephalous going into a blind rage after the incident, promising to kill anyone that sets foot onto Discovery Island.

Personality

Before the Corrupti Incident, Acephalous was considered docile and friendly towards everyone he met.

In his hostile state, Acephalous appears to heavily shame his victims for what they have done towards him, even if it does involve simplistic language. He constantly pleads for Jake to have a heart, and that his calls for help during what could presumably be his own demise during the Corrupti Incident were never listened to. He does seem to get emotional over his own death regardless, as his voice is slightly more lower-pitched when he says that he thought Jake liked him. All of these statements appear to be guilt-inducing manipulation tactics, as he is hostile and blood-thirsty regardless.

Trivia

  • Acephalous hails from the 1.0 era of the original Five Nights at Treasure Island's development cycle, where he was fended off in the same manner as the other suits and had a hiding jumpscare.
  • Goofy traditionally has a black jacket when he is featured in most Disney cartoons, as opposed to the yellow one Acephalous is seen wearing.
    • However, in some Disney incarnations, Goofy does wear a yellow jacket. This is most notable in the Kingdom Hearts series of games, which is where Acephalous' model is sampled from.
  • In the file release by Matthew Phoenix Rodriguez, there is an animation of Acephalous running out of Character Prep 1 while wearing Disembodied. This was later confirmed to have been for a new proposed mechanic by Matthew, where Acephalous would inch towards Character Prep 1 to put on Disembodied. The player would have to shut off cameras to push him backwards to his starting position.
  • Acephalous's voice actor in Remastered is the same voice actor for Greg in the original 1.0 demos.
  • Acephalous's screech was made by Smashed Tomatoes and edited by George W. Kush.
  • When Acephalous's body is in the Meat Freezer, his head appears to be larger than his body.
  • Acephalous's head can be summoned only by Purity in the Office.
  • If the player befriends Acephalous, then he can be seen in the Janitor's Closet with his head on.
  • It is unknown if any of the suits ever notice Acephalous's head in the Meat Freezer when they enter there.
  • "Acephalous" is an actual word of Greek origin, and means to not have a head.

— Acephalous

Acephalous is an antagonist in Five Nights at Treasure Island: Found Revision 1. Unlike Abandoned: Discovery Island and Abandoned: Discovery Island Classic Deluxe, this iteration of Acephalous was hastily retconned into a toon, much like the other suits in the game.

Appearance

Acephalous retains his appearance from Abandoned: Discovery Island.

Curiously, Acephalous is the only toon in the main storyline that has no shade form. When the power is out, he will continue to roam the building, and the exact same method you would normally use against him must be done once he is spotted with the flashlight.
