The forest. It follows me.

— The Face

The Face is an antagonist in Abandoned: Discovery Island.

Appearance

The Face is a deformed Mickey Mouse costume with pale white human eyes, and a jaw that hangs open with no teeth showing as if it were broken or dislocated. His head is mostly deformed, and his eye sockets are droopy, and his ears are more bat-like and pointy. There are just little stumps where his legs should be, as most of his lower legs have been melted off. As such, he can only get around by crawling with his hands.

His shade form is similar, except he is partially transparent. This form also has no human eyes and much more droopy eye sockets.

Behavior

The Face initially starts off-camera, but will then take the following path towards the player.

If The Face appears in the Office, the player needs to raise the monitor and shut off a camera. This creates a loud noise, luring him away. The player also has the option to switch off the power, or hide under the desk, giving the player a 50/50 chance of surviving. Delaying or neglecting to do these things will cause him to kill the player.

Shade

If The Face's shade begins to rise in the Office while the power is out, the player must hide under the desk.

Pirate Caverns

The Face will roam in random rooms of Floor 1 of Pirate Caverns. If the player spots him with the flashlight, they must move to another room. Delaying or neglecting to do so will cause him to kill the player.

History

Much like the other suits, The Face was generally considered friendly and helpful by the Disney staff before the Corrupti Incident. He was also curious about the world around him, as he eventually escaped into the public eye alongside other suits, resulting in said event of mass hysteria.

Jake Smith threw The Face into a fire as the Corrupti Incident occured. This resulted in The Face not only becoming insane, but also going into a blind rage after the incident, promising to kill anyone that sets foot onto Discovery Island.

Personality

Before the Corrupti Incident, The Face was considered docile and friendly towards everyone he met.

In his hostile state, The Face seems to have not only lost all of his sanity, but he seems to be very prophetic, warning his victims that spirits are coming. Despite this, his possible schizophrenia seems to have taken a toll on him as well, as he claims that the forest of the island itself follows him wherever he goes.

Errors

  • When The Face appears in the Office, his eyes seem altered when compared to the pair of human-like eyes he has when he kills you with the power on.
  • In The Face's power-on jumpscare, his thumb clips through the upper part of his mouth.
    • His eyes will misplace for a split second in his jumpscare.
    • His eyes will also disappear for a split second in his jumpscare.
    • He seems to be lacking the buttons on his pants during the jumpscare. However, this is just an issue with how he was rigged.
      • The buttons also appear to be missing when he is in Pirate Caverns.

Trivia

  • According to Matthew, The Face got his name from a modeling error that happened while Matthew was creating him.
  • The Face is voiced by George W. Kush.
  • The Face's screech was made by Smashed Tomatoes.
  • The Corrupti Incident seems to have caused The Face to lose his sanity.
  • It was confirmed by Desko that The Face and MickMick are the same costume in A:DI's continuity.
  • It was confirmed by Desko that the Night 2 cutscene is what the Face sees.
  • The Face used to share the same screech as Photo-Negative Mickey.
    • Willy also shares Photo-Negative Mickey's screech.
  • The Face's shade form was considered to be incredibly difficult to deal with, mainly due to the short length of the animation and the player having to hide before said animation ended. This was nerfed several times, most prominently in the 1.2.0 update, where said animation was re-rendered to have more frames and made much slower.

— The Face

The Face is an antagonist in Five Nights at Treasure Island: Found Revision 1. Unlike Abandoned: Discovery Island and Abandoned: Discovery Island Classic Deluxe, this iteration of The Face was hastily retconned into a toon, much like the other suits in the game.

Appearance

The Face retains his appearance from Abandoned: Discovery Island. The same applies to his ink-blot form. Curiously, he appears to leak a yellow fluid in the Office.

Ink-Blot

If The Face's ink-blot begins to rise in the Office while the power is out, the player must hide under the desk.

In the full version of Five Nights at Treasure Island: Found Revision 1, he was planned to gain a major overhaul due to the new flashlight mechanics.

Pirate Caverns

The Face will roam in random rooms of Floor 1 of Pirate Caverns. If the player spots him with the flashlight, they must move to another room. Delaying or neglecting to do so will cause the Exposure meter to fill up, killing the player.
